A Trip to Bawbawon Resort

Recently we rented two vans and, loaded with friends and neighbors, drove up to Plaridel to take a day trip to the Bawbawon Island Resort.

As we had to go through province checkpoints due to the "lockdown", (stupid Covid!), there were some hassles getting there and back, but once in Plaridel everything went smoothly.

The Hotel Bijoux

The fun started at the Le Bistro cafe inside the Hotel Bijoux, where we had coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and yummy snacks.  Then after a brief wait, it was off to the "docks", where we were loaded onto small boats and ferried to Bawbawon Island.

Scenic Views From the Boat

After the short boat ride we arrived at the Island.  As you can see from the pics, it is quite a beautiful place.

The boys had fun playing on the beach, Sweetie had fun relaxing, and even Old Grump had a pleasant moment or two.

Old Grump will never pass up an opportunity to eat or drink!

Unfortunately there always seems to be one in every crowd that can't enjoy things no matter what.

Aargh!!

Speaking of eating and drinking, a picnic lunch was provided as part of the admission to the resort.  I didn't remember to take a pic until we were halfway through eating, so you'll have to imagine what this looked like before a bunch of hungry folks attacked it.

Halfway Through Lunch

There is a pavilion on the water's edge where you can get a massage.  The setting there is ideal for relaxation, as you can listen to the waves gently lapping the stone shore, under the shade of a clump of trees.  Grump and Sweetie both got massages; Grump fell asleep halfway through his, snoring loudly.

All things must pass; eventually our time on the island was up, and we climbed back into the little boats and were ferried back to the mainland.  Once there, Sweetie and her cousin just had to buy some very beautiful plants growing in a nearby yard.  They purchased rooted cuttings of the plant with the large, variegated leaves in the center of the pic below.

Do You See the Cat?

I believe everyone in our group had a great time at Bawbawon Resort, and if travel restrictions ever ease up, (stupid Covid!), we'll be sure to go back.

If you are interested in going to Bawbawon, or just spending some time at the Hotel Bijoux and/or Le Bistro cafe, you can visit this website for more info:  https://www.bawbawonisland.com/ .

See you there!
