We Finally Arrived to Lola's House!

Dodong and Sweetie relaxing in Lola's House

After two grueling weeks of quarantine, and another day full of the irritations of traveling during the "plague", we finally arrived at our destination, Lola's house.

We will have to quarantine yet another two weeks here, (drat!), but at least we are comfortable and at home.

There are a few challenges we will have to face almost immediately.  First, Sweetie MUST get her dual citizenship ASAP, before Old Grump blows a gasket over this.  (We had planned on getting her dual citizenship during the summer of 2020, but stupid Covid intervened and shut down all the Philippines embassies.)  Next, we have to get lots of expensive dental work done on Kuya's teeth.  This means finding a competent orthodontist, which may require us to go to Ozamis, if not Cebu.

These two challenges we were expecting.  What we were NOT expecting was to be told there were rats in the attic, (the outside of the house isn't finished yet, so rats and birds can simply wander in under the eaves of the roof), and that the "road" to Lola's house was in so many places an exasperating mire of a mud pit.  (Actually, to call this access a "road" is being charitable to the point of vastly misusing the word "road"!)

Another challenge for Grump is dealing with the mountain of suitcases Sweetie insisted we lug all the way here from the USA.  Our bedroom is cramped and uncomfortable because of all the dumb "treasures", (old clothes?), Sweetie couldn't part with.

But overall things are working out very well so far.  Lola's house is clean and comfortable, and the kitchen is large enough to feed all nine of us, (and the occasional guest or three).

There will be many, many more challenges we will have to face in the coming days, I am sure, but with God's help and grace we will tackle them one by one.
